We are looking for a versatile programmer writer to work on technologies for Microsoft Auto. The small but extremely dynamic MED CPUB writing team offers exciting challenges and unparalleled opportunities to learn and document the latest technologies in the embedded platforms. This is not the typical programmer writer position. This person will be the lead for Automotive Content Publishing. You will work closely with editors, production engineers, and other writers as well as developers, program managers, testers, and developer support. The ideal candidate has experience writing for a developer audience, ideally systems software writing experience, and real-world C++ and C# programming experience. A preferred candidate would have strong knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio and XML, and be familiar with the Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Publications. Required qualifications C, C++, or C# programming experience Excellent writing, communication, planning, and organizational skills At least one year experience writing developer documentation Proven ability to produce high quality results under tight deadlines Project management experience Aptitude for learning new tools and technologies quickly The ability to identify documentation gaps and proactively scope, schedule, and create content that addresses the situation Desire to participate in an ongoing dialog with the developer community B.A. or B.S. in English, Communications, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience Preferred qualifications Win32 programming experience Systems software programming experience (SDK, kernel, operating systems, device drivers, etc) Two years experience writing developer documentation SDK writing experience Familiarity with developing Windows CE and/or Mobile (Smartphone and Pocket PC) applications. Familiarity with the build and production processes used to create online Help. Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio and XML Experience using DocStudio in a single-sourcing model. Experience managing temporary agency programmer writers.
